Butter cookies, also known as petit fours or fours, are one of the most popular holiday cakes. Dipped in chocolate and topped with nuts, these holiday classics become even more delicious and festive.
These butter cookies are suitable for both children and adults. It's popular in Egypt during the holidays, along with other festive favourites like Kahk, Lancashire, and Al Ghriba.
Baking these cookies brings back happy memories of family get-togethers during the holidays. Bake them with the kids for memories that will last a lifetime. It's also ideal for giving.
Petit Fours can be eaten simple, with jam glued on top, or with chocolate and almonds on top.
Ingredients for butter cookies
Here's everything you'll need to get started:
Of course, there's butter.
Sugar for confections (powdered).
Whole eggs.
Extract of vanilla.
Flour for all purposes.
Baking powder is a type of baking powder.
If you're making the chocolate ones, you'll need cocoa powder.
For decoration, use jam, chocolate, sprinkles, or nuts.
1- Unsalted butter should be at room temperature. Add powdered sugar and beat until white and fluffy.
2-Add three whole eggs, one egg yolk (also at room temperature) and vanilla extract and mix well.
3-Now in a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder.
4-Add both mixtures and mix using a spoon. ,
5-If you want to be with cocoa, add raw cocoa to the ingredients, it will give a brown color
6-Or we divide the quantity and make one half with cocoa and the other as usual
1- You can eat these cookies plain or improve them by glueing them with your favourite jam ( preferably apricot jam)

*- 4 cups of butter, at room temperature.
*- 1 and a half cups of confectioners' sugar (powder).
*- 3 eggs. Room temperature, and one egg yolk
* - 9 cups of flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder.
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder - or more to your liking.
*Vanilla and a pinch of salt

Beat butter and sugar until you get a nice creamy white mixture. Add eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, add the baking powder and flour and mix well with a fork.
Add the flour to the egg mixture until you get a smooth and soft dough.
On the prepared cookie sheet, shape the dough into small balls - gently press them onto the cookie sheet with a fork to make marks over them, or if you have a cookie press, use it to make the shapes you want.
Bake for 12-15 minutes in a preheated 325 F oven or until edges are golden.
On a cooling rack, let your cookies cool before decorating.
You can leave it plain or paste every two with some jam, you can also dip it in any kind of chocolate and then in some ground nuts.
